clear aligners
Clear aligner treatment utilizes a series of clear, plastic shells that fit over the teeth and are removable. They do not use brackets, wires, or ligatures to move the teeth into their correct positions. Invisalign can be used for a variety of treatment needs. Great candidates for Invisalign are those who had braces in the past and would like correction of teeth that have shifted or patients with periodontal concerns who might have difficulty keeping good oral hygiene with braces.
How do clear aligners work?
Clear aligners are used as an alternative to traditional braces, and are designed to help guide teeth into proper position. Just like braces, clear aligners use gradual force to control tooth movement, but without any metal wires or brackets. The aligners are made with a strong plastic material that has been fabricated to fit your mouth. As treatment progresses you switch aligners. Each aligner is a little different, so your teeth move a little more with every change.
Aligners are worn for at least 20 hours each day. You will receive several sets of aligners, changing the aligners on your own every 2 weeks. Dr. Wong will monitor your progress every 6-8 weeks.
