Types of Braces for All Ages

Wearing braces is part of the journey to achieving functional, healthy teeth and a beautiful smile. But which types of braces are right for you? During your complimentary consultation at our Bellevue orthodontic office, you will meet with Dr. Wong to review treatment timing, the treatment plan, and the best options for your treatment. Dr. Wong offers traditional metal braces, clear aesthetic braces, and Invisalign® clear aligner treatment, all of which can be used in conjunction with AcceleDent® Optima™ to speed up treatment.

Metal Braces

All patients who need orthodontic treatment are candidates for traditional braces. Today's metal braces are much smaller, flatter, and more comfortable than in the past. They are made of high quality stainless steel or titanium, and use elastic ties to cold the wire to the bracket. These ties come in a variety of colors that can be changes to fit each patient’s style at each visit.

Clear Braces

Clear braces combine aesthetically clear brackets that perform with as much durability and performance as stainless steel brackets without any compromise of the treatment time. Clear braces are a great option for patients who prefer less metal showing in their smile and patients in professions where they would feel more confident in their treatment to have clear appliances.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligner treatment utilizes a series of clear, plastic shells that fit over the teeth and are removable. They do not use brackets, wires, or ligatures to move the teeth into their correct positions. Invisalign can be used for a variety of treatment needs. Great candidates for Invisalign are those who had braces in the past and would like correction of teeth that have shifted, patients who do not have any missing teeth or planning for an implant, and any patient seeking to minor to a full treatment plan.

Regardless of the treatment method you choose, you’ll need to visit our Bellevue, WA orthodontic practice every six weeks so Dr. Wong can monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment.
